1. The Product Definition Lab: Deconstructing the Perfect Crust

 

Our first step was to dive deep into the passionate world of pizza making.

  • Community Immersion: We analyzed the vibrant communities on Reddit like r/pizza and Australian-specific barbecue forums. We studied the obsessive pursuit of the perfect “leopard-spotted” crust and identified the key performance metrics that matter most to users: heat-up time, temperature consistency, and ease of use.

  • Data-Driven Design: The data showed a clear opportunity for a gas-powered oven that was easier to control than wood-fired models. In a workshop with Chloe, we defined the MVP: a double-walled stainless steel oven for maximum heat retention, a powerful gas burner, and a high-quality cordierite pizza stone for a crispy, conductive cooking surface.

 

2. The Supply Chain Refinery: Mastering Heat and Steel

 

This product’s success depended entirely on sourcing the right materials and expertise.

  • The “Hot Zone” from Yongkang: The oven’s body and burner system required expertise in high-temperature appliances. We partnered with a factory in Yongkang, China’s hardware capital, that specialized in manufacturing gas grills. Their deep experience in burner safety, heat flow engineering, and stainless steel fabrication was critical.

  • The “Soul of the Stone” from Zibo: The pizza stone needed to withstand extreme thermal shock. We sourced the cordierite stone from a ceramics specialist in Shandong (Zibo), ensuring it could go from cold to blazing hot without cracking, providing that perfect crispy base every time.

  • The Guarantee of Safety: ProtoFlow’s most crucial role was managing compliance. We navigated the complex process of getting the product certified for international food-grade safety standards, including LFGB and FDA, giving Chloe the confidence to launch her brand globally.

 

3. The Content Launchpad: A Brand Built on Good Times

 

The marketing strategy was built around the social joy of sharing a great pizza.

  • A Visual Feast for Social Media: The product is incredibly visual. We planned a launch campaign centered on Instagram and YouTube, partnering with Australian food and lifestyle influencers to host backyard pizza parties. Their content would showcase the oven’s beautiful design and, more importantly, the delicious results.

  • Engaging the Pizza Aficionados: To build credibility, we planned to engage with the experts on r/pizza, sharing photos of pizzas cooked in the oven and participating in technical discussions about dough and technique.
